In “Blind Rituals”, we investigate dance and embodiment practices as aligning rituals for the blind dancer Toffee. The artistic process shed light on an understanding of why and how a blind person dance–to cultivate himself as a person, to make sense of the world, to share his passion and for us to perhaps write a new disability myth through dance rituals as a means of holistic non-verbal communication.
This event will walk you through dance-based embodiment practices derived from Toffee’s lived experience of being a blind artist. How may we care for ourselves and each other through dancing and sharing dances? What if blindness, as an act of experiencing, is no more limiting, but a vast field of possibilities?
This online event is a mini-workshop, a lecture-performance with a premiere of our online gallery website “Blind Rituals”
Presented in an online Zoom Meeting (pre-registration required to receive a zoom link) at 14.00. We will hold space for Q&A and interactions. However, you are not required to open camera or unmute.
